Stagnation as a Call to Action: Soulful Strategies for Navigating Life's Stagnant Waters

There are times cyclically that within our collective we go through energetic ‘droughts’ both collectively and individually. These moments, much like the cyclical ebb and flow of the ocean, may appear to leave us stranded in a desert of stagnation. Whether it's the dwindling numbers in our bank accounts, the absence of love knocking on our door, or seemingly futile job searches, these signs call us to dive deeper and to tap into the universe’s vast reservoirs in ways we haven't before.

Yet, it's during these intense pressures that our mind might spiral into catastrophic thinking—echoes of  ‘why does this always happen to me?’ ‘I can’t seem to get ahead.’ ‘it feels like we are going nowhere.’ start to surface. It's precisely here, in the belly of stagnation, where a potent antidote lies: the uncovering of the hidden callings beneath the cloak of stillness.

This is a Call to Step Up

Consider this moment your invitation to redefine your narrative. It’s an opportunity to grant yourself permission to shine unapologetically. If you’re facing stagnation, dare to ask, “What magnificent potential am I holding back?” It could be a leadership role yearning for your unique touch, or a creative spark waiting to illuminate your community. Embrace your authentic self and let your light guide you to new paths of empowerment.

Stagnation calls us to reflect on the self-imposed limitations that have tethered us to our comfort zones. It's an invitation to shatter these invisible chains and embrace the boundless potential within. Whether it's a voice within urging you to take on more responsibility in your professional life, or a silent nudge to lead with love and courage within your family or community, the time is now. Can you give yourself some much needed permission? Permission to be you and do you the way you want to. Permission to do things differently. Permission to be louder. Permission to be visible. This is also a call to step into the light and manifest the leadership role you were born to embody.

Take Action: Reflect on areas in your life where you've felt a pull towards greater involvement or leadership but hesitated. Journal about what has held you back and outline three small steps you can take this week to step into a more active role in one of these areas.

This is a Call to Get Organized

If you are experiencing a period of stagnation, chances are you have some de-cluttering to do. I always start with my home to find any stagnant spaces or areas that call out to me in need of de-cluttering. Today that was my drawers. I’ve gained 20 lbs these past couple years and although I’d cleared out and re-organized my closets… I was still hanging onto my old leggings and lounge pants. But they don’t fit! So I was guided to clear out everything that doesn’t fit. You might have a perfectly clean home… How’s your underwear drawer, your mail, your laundry… And if those are good, time to move to your thoughts. Do you have some cluttered thoughts? Time to dump them out on paper and sort and clear. How about your business ‘stuff’. Do you need to reorganize files, delete emails, cleanup your systems? You don’t have to do everything at once. I can almost guarantee you that when you are feeling stagnant in any area of your life, if you can choose one small de-cluttering project, you will find it to be pure magic how energy shifts almost immediately after.

The act of decluttering transcends the physical realm; it’s a ritual of making space for the new, for the energy that propels us forward. In the corners of our homes lie not just forgotten objects but unacknowledged parts of our selves, waiting to be released. As we clear these spaces, we also clear the cobwebs in our minds, making room for clarity and purpose to take root. Decluttering isn’t only about creating order but it’s about inviting a flow of energy that aligns with the version of ourselves we are working to step into. It’s about recognizing that the external clutter often mirrors the clutter within our thoughts and emotions, and by addressing one, we initiate healing in the other.

Take Action: Choose one area in your physical environment that feels cluttered or stagnant. Dedicate 30 minutes to decluttering this space. Afterward, sit in this newly cleared space for a few moments of reflection. How does the shift in your external environment mirror the shift you desire internally?

This is a Call to Ask for More

Stagnation is often the soul's way of signaling that we've become too comfortable in our desires, too modest in our dreams. It’s a nudge from the universe to expand our horizons and to dare to Dream the big dream..  Chances are if you’ve been stagnant, God/Universe is asking you to ask for more. This call to ask for more is not just about material or external achievements but about asking for more growth, more love, more alignment with our true purpose. It's about breaking the barriers of our own expectations and opening our hearts to the infinite possibilities that await us. If you need to do a little self worth work, I suggest that new book Worthy by Jamie Kern Lima or Girl Wash Your Face by Jen Sincero or You are a Badass by Jen Sincero. There are tons of books, podcasts, youtube videos out there to get you pumped up and knowing your worth… But my favorite space to do self worth work is hands down… Soul Medicine. Join in a live session and see for yourself! When we ask unapologetically, we align our energies with the abundance of the universe, inviting miracles into our lives.

Take Action: Write a letter to the universe asking for what you truly desire, no holds barred. Place this letter in a special box or envelope, and create a small ritual around it, perhaps lighting a candle or saying a prayer as you seal it. If you need some help doing a little deeper work to boost your sense of self worth, book a private session here. Trust that the universe is conspiring to fulfill your desires.

This is a Call to Shift Your Position

Sometimes the path we are on becomes too worn, too familiar, and we’re locked into outdated energies, relationships and roles. This stagnation may be a call to shift your position: Step back, step down, step aside, step out… Perhaps you’re in the wrong relationship and that’s why it’s not working out. Perhaps you’re in the wrong job position and would be better suited elsewhere. This a call for BETTER. An invitation to explore new terrains, to question whether the spaces you occupy—be they relationships, careers, or mindsets—still serve your highest good. For many of us, it is a call to courageously step out of the comfort zones that have become our prisons and into our full potential. It’s not a call for reckless change and chaos but moreso a call to step out of your comfort zone and onto your Highest path.

Take Action: Visualize your life from a new perspective. Imagine you're stepping out of your current situation and viewing it as an outsider. What advice would you give yourself? Write down one actionable step you can take this week to initiate a shift in a stagnant area of your life.

This is a Call to Be You, Unapologetically

In a world that often demands conformity, stagnation is the soul's plea for authenticity, for the freedom to be unapologetically ourselves. It's a call to shed the masks we wear, to let go of the 'not untils' that postpone our happiness and fulfillment. Are you avoiding sharing bits of yourself ‘until’ … Until you have more followers, lose that weight, get that haircut, have that relationship, earn that money? What are you waiting for? Indeed there will be necessary times of withdrawal and incubation, but if you’re in a moment of stagnation and know that you’ve been waiting on something, than this is a call to put yourself out there right as you are! Your uniqueness is not a flaw but your greatest strength. This is an invitation to shine brightly, to share your gifts, and to step into the roles you were destined to play.

Take Action: Identify one aspect of yourself or your life that you've been hiding or holding back. Commit to one small action that will allow you to express this part of yourself more fully this week. Whether it's sharing a story, showcasing a talent, or simply wearing something that reflects your true style, take a step towards being more authentically you.

Most importantly, please know that stagnation is not an isolated experience. You are not alone. Many souls are experiencing stagnation all at once right now. You will find tremendous relief as you open yourself up to vulnerably sharing your experiences in safe spaces. There's immense power in sharing your journey in spaces that feel safe and nurturing. Talk to your therapist or shaman (book a session with me here), trusted circle of friends, or join in a discussion in a live soul medicine session and find the clarity you need to shift your perspective and unlock the opportunities for growth hidden beneath your stagnation . It’s not just a lack of movement but a space for growth.
