Athena Allread, 200 RYT, Reiki Master, Seaside Shaman
Not Long ago, I found myself sick with a mysterious illness. I was in pain, vomiting every day, losing weight, and unable to carry out many of my normal daily tasks. After months of trips to the ER, CT scans, ultrasounds, hopeless visits with the gastroenterologist and invasive tests, I’d had enough and called a local shaman in tears. I went to see her, was impressed with her work and intuitiveness, and more impressed when I woke up the next day feeling healed. To this day, those symptoms have not returned. This visit prompted me on a journey of discovery, mystified by this ‘Shamanism’ that I’d never heard of until now. On this journey, I found my teachers, I found my spirit guides and guiding angels, and I was reminded of who I truly was. Suddenly, I felt safer with sharing the gifts of extrasensory ‘sight’ and ‘feeling’ that had been passed down amongst the women in my lineage. I felt safe to come out of my mystical closet and share the mystical tools such as yoga and tarot, which I’d been practicing for many years, with the world.
Fast forward to now, I’ve trained under Terri Pippin The Medicine woman, who healed me, amongst other shamans, and am now working to help others heal and find balance and comfort when facing some of life’s discomforts. My shamanic training, natural gifts of ‘sight’ and ‘feeling’, and my background in teaching yoga equip me with fearlessness in helping you to release what is no longer serving you, and in guiding you forward hand in hand with your own angels and guides.
The Shaman, having been around since the beginning of time, has also been known as the medicine man/woman, the Seer, the wounded healer, witch doctor… I am a mom, a daughter, a wife, a sister, a loyal and compassionate friend, a girl who loves the beach, bicycles, ice cream and Star Wars. As in traditional native american Shamanism, I utilize drum music (in some of the more traditional practices, such as soul retrieval), deep meditation, and connection to higher powers; To work to bring you back to a state of whole-ness.
