Allow Yourself To Float This Summer

Allow Yourself To Float This Summer

Yesterday I took my kids to the pool as I normally do on wicked hot summer days… Only this time I decided to avoid the slow extended cold shock of the stairs and to playfully hop in off the side of the pool. I laid myself back against the water allowing my feet to rise up in front of me and my entire body to come up to the surface of the water. Allowing myself to float. I held my breath within my entire body, feeling a lightness flow through me as if I myself were a pool float version of my Self. I drifted up to the surface of the water, closing my eyes and imagining that there were several angels surrounding me, holding my body up with their gentle hands, carrying me gently through the water. My body sighed and thanked me for trusting in the breath to uphold it. My Spirit sighed and thanked me for trusting. My angels sighed and thanked me for allowing them to serve.

This is my approach to each day. We’re all human, even those of us who receive extremely clear guidance as to which way to go and when, and guidance of when to be patient, guidance of who is right for us and who will be a teacher of some of the more uncomfortable lessons in life. Yet, still we question and we decide to take a different route, and we become impatient and we attach to those teachers long after the hard lessons have been learned. We still have our free will. But I’ve found that when I come back to the water, my pool float version of my Self, and allow myself to lie back and float, closing my eyes and taking my breath in, my angels are always there to carry me gently through the water.

Today I have an exercise for YOU.
Iinvite you to ask yourself what it is that you are trying so hard to figure out. Who you’re trying so hard to detach from. What is it that you’re not attaining no matter how hard you try.  Find a pool, ocean, bay, river, lake… any (sanitary!) body of water. Run or dive in. lie back and allow yourself to float. If you haven’t floated before, it only requires taking a long full breath into the body, imagining that you are like a pool float, keeping the center of the body (knees to shoulders) flat like a plank of wood, and releasing the head back against the water with your chin tilted upward toward the sky. Come into a floating position, when necessary releasing and drawing in a new breath into the body, and closing the eyes. Hold that idea in your mind of what it is that you would love to move more smoothly in or out of your life. And imagine that you are surrounded by angels, they’re hands beneath your body gently carrying you in the direction of your dreams. Feel how amazing and free-ing it is to let go of control and fear.

Listen and feel as your body sighs and thanks you for trusting in the breath to uphold it. Listen and feel as your Spirit sighs and thanks you for trusting. Listen and feel as your angels sigh and thank you for allowing them to help.

Wishing you a summer of floating effortlessly toward your dreams

Namaste to you,

Athena
